Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team traveled across town to play against their rival Gannon. Gannon's two first half goals were the difference as they would take the game by a score of 5-1.
How it Happened
The matchup between the two teams was scrappy from the start, both teams' energy was on a different level right out of the gate. Gannon was able to strike first on a cross right in front of the goal. Gannon had the early 1-0 lead. Right before the half, Gannon was able to add another. It was now 2-0 in favor of Gannon. The Lakers had an opportunity right before the half to cut the lead in half. Lockie Fay had a shot at the goal, but the Gannon goaltender was able to save it. Gannon took a 2-0 lead into the locker room.
The second half began and it was back and forth. Gannon was able to add to their lead in the 69th minute making it 3-0. Just two minutes later Gannon added another to extend their lead even further. The Lakers were awarded a penalty kick and Dylan Sumner got the Lakers on the board with his third goal of the season. In the 85th minute Gannon added one more to put the game away. The final seconds ticked off and Gannon would hand the Lakers their first loss of the season.

The Lakers will look to rebound as they travel to Seton Hill on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 12 PM.
