Germantown, MD. - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team was back in action today as they hit the road to face off against the District of Columbia. After a slow first half of play, the Lakers came out of halftime firing on all cylinders and came away with a 3-0 win.  

How it Happened 

The first half was slow for both teams. The Lakers were able to put some shots on goal but weren't able to find the back of the net. Dylan Sumner was able to get an opportunity near the end of the half, but the goaltender was able to get a hand on it and save the shot. The game went into the half tied at zero.  

The Lakers came out firing to start the second half as Frank Lovett put a shot into the net, but it was saved by the goaltender. Luis Felipe Santos finally found an opening and broke the scoreless tie. Frank Lovett found Felipe Santos who found the back of the net. The Lakers took a 1-0 lead. A few minutes later Jorge Tallada Torres found the back of the net from Frank Lovett. This was Tallada Torres first goal of the season. The Lakers extended their lead to 2-0. About five minutes of play passed and Jorge Tallada Torres found the back of the net once again to give the Lakers a 3-0 lead. This score would stand the rest of the way and the Lakers would improve their record to 5-0 on the season.  

Highlights 

Luis Felipe Santos scored his second goal of the season. Jorge Tallada Torres scored his first two goals of the season. Frank Lovett assisted on the first two goals for the Lakers, and Ben Buckley assisted on the final goal. Ezekiel Foltz saved the only shot on goal he faced. 

Next Up 

The Lakers will return home to face West Chester on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field. Kick-off is set for 11 AM.
