Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse adds their first assistant coach for the 2024 season in Nathan Reichel. After spending time as a member of the former regime, Reichel looks to bring consistency to the program once again.
Reichel is no stranger to Mercyhurst based on his playing days, spending two seasons at Mercyhurst North East before transferring to Seton Hill where he earned his Bechelor's in Hospitality Management.
"I'm excited to announce the promotion of Coach Reichel and retain him in the program," said new Head Coach Trey Keeley. "Nate had a strong presence within the 2023 team's successful season."
Reichel began his time on the sidelines in 2011 as the head coach of Cathedral Prep's men's lacrosse team, staying with the Ramblers until 2021. His work teaching youth the game of lacrosse extends far past Cathedral Prep as he has spent time with his alma mater North East along with the Navigator Lacrosse Club, an Erie-base club Reichel began in October of 2018 to help youth with their skills.
Reichel was a member of Mercyhurst's coaching staff for the 2023 season, beginning his time with the Lakers as an assistant coach in July 2022. He brought his bevy of knowledge to the sidelines for a historic season, helping Mercyhurst to a 16-3 overall record while winning the GMAC championship and making it to the NCAA championship game. He hopes to carry over that success to year two .
"He has a wide range of lacrosse knowledge through playing and coaching experience, and he is passionate about developing a transformational student-athlete experience at Mercyhurst. He is a perfect fit to keep the Hurst train rolling forward," said Keeley on the addition to his staff.
