ERIE, Pa. - The Women's Lacrosse team hosted Lock Haven in a PSAC matchup today, Apr. 8, 2023.
The Lakers played strong and defeated the Bald Eagles 14-11.
Quarter One
Meghan Nasman earned the first goal of the game at 6:28 on a free position.
Rachel Plumely passed the ball to Maggie Newton to net the second goal at 5:54.
The Bald Eagles followed with a goal three seconds later.
Newton followed with her second of the game at 4:58.
The Bald Eagles pushed the score to 2-3 at 3:26 on a free-position.
Newton had her hat trick at 2:24.
The Bald Eagles scored the last goal of the quarter at 1:33.
The Lakers had eight ground balls and were 5-6 on their clears.
Quarter Two
Lock Haven tied the game up at four with 14:13 on the clock.
Marlee Antinora grabbed the lead back at 11:59. She was assisted by Whitley Easton.
Lock Haven retaliated at 11:20 and 9:57 to take the lead.
Amanda Bailey scored a man-up goal at 7:20. She was followed by Antinora to bring the lead back to the Lakers 6-7.
The Bald Eagles netted two more at 5:02 and 3:43 to take the lead once again.
Newton scored her fourth to tie the game, 8-8, going into the half at 2:56.
The Lakers won seven draw controls and were 100% on their clears.
Quarter Three
The Lakers scored the first of the quarter to take back the lead at 12:36. Newton claimed her fifth goal while Plumley tallied the apple.
Victoria Gottorff finally got on the board at 11:28 to bring the lead to 10-8.
The Bald Eagles tried to fight back, scoring another goal at 10:11.
Plumley struck again on a man-up opportunity to bring the score to 11-9. Megan Millard was on the assist.
Newton was relentless, scoring her sixth with 45 seconds to go. Gottorff clinched the apple.
The Lakers won six draw controls and were 4-4 on their clears. The score was 12-9 going into the final quarter.
Quarter Four
Lock Haven scored the first of the quarter on a man-up opportunity at 10:52.
Antinora claimed her hat trick at 9:57 assisted by Newton.
Millard netted her first goal of the game on a free-position at 7:24.The score was now 14-10.\
The Bald Eagles capitalized on their 11th goal at 2:25. They still trailed 14-11 to finish the game out.

Stephanie Vanriper had four ground balls.
