INDIANA, Pa. - The Lakers faced the IUP Crimson Hawks today, Apr. 12, 2023.
The Lakers dropped the instense game, 12-14.
Quarter One
Victoria Gottorff was able to strike first in the game at 12:39.
Not even a minute went by, and Meghan Nasman netted her 16th of the season. Megan Millard was on the assist at 11:53.
Whitley Easton was the third to score, with an unassisted goal at 9:52. The score was now 3-0.
Amanda Bailey found some speed and weaved through the defense to score at 7:24.
Nasman struck again to place the Lakers' fifth unanswered goal in the net at 1:58. Easton picked up her second point of the game on the assist.
Paige Maneri was a brick wall in the net shutting out the Crimson Hawks with three saves.
The team won three draw controls and earned six ground balls.
Quarter Two
The Crimson Hawks finally put goals on the board at 14:43 and 14:02.
It took some time, but Stephanie VanRiper placed the Lakers' sixth goal in the back of the net at 7:18. This was VanRiper's first goal of the season.
IUP scored four unanswered goals to tie the game up at six going into the half.
The team was 100% on their clears this quarter. The Lakers also recovered four ground balls.
Quarter Three
Millard scored the first of the quarter at 12:41 to give the Lakers back the lead.
IUP tied it up again at 12:23.
Easton earned her second of the game, and 15th of the season, at 7:39.
Gottorff immediately followed, netting her second at 7:23. The Lakers now had the lead, 9-7.
Newton dumped in a set of back-to-back goals at 5:02 and 4:11 to take the four-goal lead.
IUP was able to capitalize on two late goals at 1:39 and 00:05.
The score was now 11-9 going into the fourth.
Kiera Bottecher and Ellie Schau caused a pair of turnovers. The Lakers had four of each draw controls and ground balls this quarter.
Quarter Four
The Crimson Hawks scored the first of the quarter at 10:17 on a free position.
The Lakers were granted a man-up opportunity, which allowed Easton to send the ball past the goalie at 7:56.
IUP struck once again at 7:26 and tied the game at 5:22.
With 4:10 to go the Crimson Hawks took the lead, 12-13. They scored again at 3:06 to finalize the score, 12-14.
Maneri had five saves. The team gathered two ground balls.
Highlights

Kiana Francis caused two turnovers.
Playoff Picture
The Lakers currently sit fifth in the PSAC West with their game today. The top three seeds in each division will make it to the PSAC Championships. Play will begin on May 2, 2023.
