SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Women's Lacrosse team earned a spot in the PSAC Postseason with their win against Slippery Rock today, Apr. 29, 2023.
The final score was 9-7.
Quarter One
The Rock earned the first of the game at 13:23.
The Lakers then went on a run to score three and take the lead 3-1. Meghan Nasman, Rachel Plumely, and Victoria Gottorff were the ones scoring.
The Rock scored again at 6:09, but Maggie Newton was hungry for some goals. She placed two in the net at 5:12 and 00:22.
The score after the first was 5-2. The team won five draw controls and were 4-4 on their clear attempts.
Quarter Two
Slippery Rock capitalized on the first of the quarter, but less than a minute later, at 7:55, Plumley scored her second of the game.
The Rock then went on to score three and tie the game 6-6.
With only eight seconds remaining in the half, Ellie Schau took the lead back for the team on a free position.
The team picked up four ground balls and were once again 100% on the clear. The score going into halftime was 7-6.
Quarter Three
The third period was scoreless with the defense working hard. Paige Maneri made three saves and caused a turnover.
The team also recorded five ground balls and six successful clears. The score remained 7-6.
Quarter Four
The Rock tied it up again at 12:51, but two goals by Gottorff secured her hat trick and the game, 9-7.
In this quarter, Maneri made three saves and the team was still perfect on their clears.
Highlights
Victoria Gottorff claimed four points.
Paige Maneri had nine saves.
Mackenzie Murphy caused a pair of turnovers.
