#8 Men's Lacrosse Secures Home Field Advantage for GMAC Semifinals with Win Against Wheeling

WHEELING, WV. - The Men's Lacrosse team concluded their regular season at Wheeling today, Apr. 29, 2023. 

The team dominated, earning the win, 21-6.

Quarter One

Within two seconds Myles Hamm and Ethan Landymore scored the first two of the game. The time of their goals was 13:38 and 13:36.

Colin Tardif scored the third unanswered goal at 11:46. Antonio Rosetti was on the assist.

Wheeling was able to get on the board at 10:55. The score was now 3-1. 

Hamm and Landymore closed the quarter with a pair of goals and boosted the score to 5-1. Due to technical difficulties on the stream, the goals were unable to be recorded.

Shawn Doran contributed six faceoff wins, and the team was 100% on the clear.

Quarter Two

Wheeling opened up the quarter with their second of the game. 

Landymore went on to place two in the net within a minute at 12:31 and 11:27. 

Mason Mabee scored at 11:37, and Landymore scored his fifth at 10:52. Quinn Simonson claimed the apple. 

Jérémi Phoenix-Lefebvre and Doran scored two more at 8:43 and 8:45. The score was now 11-2. 

The Cardinals earned their third at 7:46. 

Colin Tardif got on the board with back-to-back goals at 5:17 and 4:57. 

Landymore and Hamm closed out the quarter, pushing the score to 15-3. 

Mercyhurst won all 13 faceoffs in the quarter thanks to Doran, Matthew Welch, Charles Greenlease, and Matthew Welch

Quarter Three

Ryan Mahoney opened up the scoring in the quarter with a goal at 10:12. 

Nicholas Mabe passed the ball to Phoenix-Lefebvre at 6:24 to score his second of the game. 

Tardif scored his second of the game and the Lakers' seventh unanswered goal at 4:46. Wheeling followed with their fourth.

Adam Oscarson closed out the quarter with a goal at 2:06. The score was now 19-4.

The team was 4-4 on the clears and recovered 15 ground balls. 

Quarter Four

Jack Murphy scored his first of the game at 14:12. 

Oscarson scored his second and final goal for the team at 9:44. 

The Cardinals closed the game with two goals to bring the score to 21-6.

The team won all five faceoffs and picked up 12 ground balls.

Highlights

Ethan Landymore scored six goals. 

Shawn Doran was perfect on his faceoffs, winning 17-17. He also picked up 13 ground balls.

Brett Olney and Tyler Moritzen each made six saves.

On the Horizon

The team will head into the GMAC Semifinals at home against Lake Erie College. The game is set for Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 4:00 p.m.
