Yearly Shamrock Awards Finalists Announced

Erie, Pa. - The 2023 Shamrock Awards are days away and with that, Mercyhurst University releases the finalists for their three major awards: Rookie of the Year, Transfer of the Year, and Athlete of the Year.

Female Rookie of the Year

  • Bailey Kuhns, Women's Basketball
  • Thea Johansson, Women's Ice Hockey
  • Jenna Stretch, Bowling
  • Whitley Easton, Women's Lacrosse

Male Rookie of the Year

  • Jake Niffenegger, Wreslting
  • Zachary Kourous, Baseball
  • Colm Schultz, Men's Tennis
  • Chase Petschke, Men's Lacrosse

Female Transfer of the Year

  • Jada Brenon, Women's Ice Hockey
  • Danielle Grim, Women's Basketball
  • Molly Langridge, Women's Water Polo
  • Cheyenne Hindman, Softball

Male Transfer of the Year

  • Johnathan Gomes, Men's Soccer
  • Luke McGonigal, Wrestling

Female Athlete of the Year

The Shamrock Awards are set to take place on Monday, May 1st, inside the Mercyhurst Athletic Center on Owen McCormick Court with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
