Kansas City, Mo. - Mercyhurst Men's Basketball will take their talents south this upcoming season as they are set to take part in the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. The Lakers compete in the tournament for the first time, hoping to show off their talents and come away with a pair of wins.
The tournament is taking place in Lakeland, Fl. on the campus of Florida Southern, marking the second season the Moccasins have hosted the event. The classic was originally held in Evansville, In. with St. Joseph, Mo. laying claim to the tournament as well. 10 teams in total make their way to the sunshine state for the competition with all but one of the participating squads doing so for the first time.
"We are grateful and excited to be invited to the hall of fame tip-off in Florida which showcases some of the best teams in the country," said Head Coach Gary Manchel. "To compete against the best can only make us better prepared for our league play and is something we have earned."
The tournament begins on Saturday, November 4th, with the Lakers set to play Central Oklahoma at 3:30 p.m. with Colorado School of Mines to follow on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
