ERIE, Pa. - The Men's Lacrosse hosted Senior Day today, Apr. 22, 2023.
The offense was strong as the team defeated the Frostburg State Bobcats 21-10.
Quarter One
The Lakers headed into a man-up opportunity which allowed Myles Hamm to score the first of the game at 12:29.
The Bobcats followed at 5:39 to tie the game.
Toward the end of the quarter, the team went on a scoring streak. Hamm scored his second of the game, followed by Shawn Doran placing one in the net right off the faceoff. The time on Doran's goal was 2:29.
Antonio Rosetti and Ethan Landymore closed out the first, giving the Lakers a lead of 5-1.
Doran won four faceoffs, Brett Olney made a single save, and the team picked up nine ground balls.
Quarter Two
The first five minutes of the second were uneventful until Hamm earned his hat trick at 10:00. He was assisted by Casey Scott. He followed with another to make the game 7-1.
The Bobcats were able to put two on the board. After their previous goal, Doran won the faceoff and passed the ball to Braden McCard to score at 7:04.
Frostburg State found a way to make the score 8-4 at 3:33.
Quinn Simonson closed out the half with an unassisted goal at 00:15.
The team was able to pick up ten ground balls as Steven Katz, Liam Bogedain, and Mason Mabee caused turnovers.
The score going into halftime was 9-4.
Quarter Three
Landymore wasted no time in the third to score unassisted at 14:39.
The Bobcats put one on the board for them, but Landymore placed another in the net at 8:13. Hamm picked up another point on the assist.
Simonson and Nicholas Mabe scored two for the team to push the score to 14-5.
Frostburg State scored again at 00:49.
Doran passed the ball to Hamm, and boom, he scored again at 00:28 to close out the quarter.
The team won five faceoffs and Olney earned three saves.
The score going into the final quarter was 15-6.
Quarter Four
Simonson was on fire, earning his fourth of the game at 14:21.
The Lakers then went on to score four more unanswered goals. Landymore, Doran, Scott, and Hamm were the ones to do so.
The Bobcats found a way to sneak five into the net.
Colin Tardif secured the win for the Lakers with a goal at 00:15. Landymore tallied the apple.
The Lakers were 100% on their clears and recovered nine ground balls.
