Bartos Earns PSAC Weekly Honors

Lock Haven, Pa. - For the second time this season Mercyhurst Wrestling's Eric Bartos is named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's Wrestler of the Week, announced the conference Tuesday afternoon.

Bartos and the rest of the Lakers had two matches during their first taste of February as the team hosted Seton Hill on Friday, February 3rd, with Millersville to follow the next day. The native of Valley City, Oh. handled both of his matches, grabbing decisive wins in both. Against Seton Hill, Bartos was faced with William Burgess at 133. The senior ended up being able to grab a quick lead and never looked back from there on his way to an 8-3 decision.

On Saturday, Bartos matched up with Devin Flannery of Millersville with the bout proving to be the main event. Flannery is ranked as the top wrestler at 133 while Bartos the fourth, making for a very exciting matchup. They wrestled each other even in the early going with Bartos finally getting the upper hand. Flannery managed to tie things up in the third at 3-3 before a one-point escape secured the victory for Bartos.

He is now 23-2 on the season and is ranked as the fourth-best wrestler in NCAA DII at 133. Bartos has been incredibly consistent for the Lakers throughout his time at Mercyhurst with him securing over 100 wins on the mat earlier in the season, becoming just the 12th wrestler in program history to do so.

Bartos and the rest of the team take to the road for their final regular season match of the 2022-23 season as they are set to compete against UPJ this Friday, February 10th, at 7:00 p.m.
