Efforts By Dahm and Burns Not Enough Against Air Force

Air Force Academy, Co. - The Lakers concluded their series with Air Force this evening, Feb. 4, 2023.

Air Force claimed the sweep as the two goals by Mercyhurst were not enough. The final score was 2-4.

How it Happened

First Period

Kyler Head took a spill but was able to pass the puck to Garrett Dahm. Dahm sniped the first goal of the game at 6:07.

Midway through the first, Owen Say made two huge saves. 

Air Force seized on an opportunity to tie the game at 15:47.

Second Period

The Falcons took the lead, 1-2, at 9:25.

The Lakers and Falcons were even on shots, both having seven on net. Through 40 minutes of play, Mercyhurst had also picked up seven blocks.

Third Period

Mickey Burns claimed the puck off a bounce on the goaltender's pad, and scored an electric goal at 1:23. The score was now all square at two.

The falcons secured the game on a powerplay goal at 15:00 and an empty netter at 00:48.1.

Highlights

Dahm, Burns, and Head all picked up points.

Adrien Bisson led the team in blocks with three.

Philip Waugh was +2 on the night.

Playoff Picture

The Lakers still sit in fourth place with 29 points after picking up one point in the series. Going into the Canisius series, the Lakers need to sweep to claim sole third place.

The top eight teams make it to the playoffs, with the four highest seeds hosting all three rounds. The quarter and semi-final rounds are best of three, with the championship being a single game.
