ERIE, Pa. - The Men's Hockey team faced the Niagara University Purple Eagles tonight, Feb. 24, 2023.
The Lakers had an OT thriller and claimed the win, 3-2.
How it Happened
First Period
The first remained scoreless. Tyler Harmon faced 14 shots on goal while the Lakers placed 16 in the crease.
Second Period
The Purple Eagles were the first to capitalize on a goal. The time on the ice was 2:03
Keanan Stewart placed himself right in front of the net and was handed the puck from Carson Briere and Ryan Coughlin to even the game up. This assist also happened to be Coughlin's first Collegiate point at 16:18.
Third Period
With 5:39 on the clock, Garrett Dahm lined up to take the faceoff, won the draw, and passed the puck to Eric Esposito. He then dumped the puck to the back of the net to take the lead at 5:43.
The Purple Eagles retaliated at 8:44 to bring the game square at two.
Overtime
With :43 seconds off the clock Gueorgi Feduolov dumped the puck right through the goalie's legs to win the game. Garrett Dahm clinched the assist.
Highlights
Feduolov claimed the OT game-winner.
Dahm had a faceoff percentage of 73.07%.
Harmon faced 33 shots on goal.
Paul Maust had three blocks.
