Senior Night Shutout; Lakers Tame Lions

ERIE, Pa. - The Lakers had their regular season finale today, Feb. 18, 2023.

In the senior night celebration, the Lakers earned their second straight shutout posting a score of 2-0.

The team and athletic department would like to thank Mercyhurst University's AIM program for helping out and celebrating our Seniors. With the support by the community tonight, the program raised over $500!

How it Happened

First Period

Much like yesterday's game, the first period was scoreless. The Lakers topped the Lions, outshooting them 12-9 and had a faceoff percentage of 59%.

Second Period

Midway through the second, the Lakers had an outright battle in front of the net. The refs went to the screen and the goal went in favor of Marielle Parks. Mary Kromer earned the apple at 11:28.

Third Period

Parks thought one goal was not enough so she found a narrow gap in the crease to earn another at 13:43. Kromer picked up assist number two, while Sydney Pedersen claimed the secondary.

It was a nail biting third trying to hold off the Lions but Ena Nystrøm was successful. The Senior stopped nine shots on goal and a total of 25 throughout the game.

Highlights

Nystrøm picked up her fifth shutout this season.

The Lakers had a whopping 42 shots on goal.

Jordan Mortlock blocked five shots within the 60 minutes.
