Women's Hockey Earns Second Shutout in a Row

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Lakers had their third matchup of the season against Syracuse tonight, Feb. 10, 2023. 

The Lakers shutout the Orange, 2-0, and earned home ice advantage for the CHA Semi-finals.

How it Happened

First Period

The first period was scoreless, with the Lakers taking ten shots on goal. The team was also able to kill off one penalty. 

Second Period

It took until the very end of the second period, at 19:20, to capitalize on a goal. Sydney Pedersen sniped it in the net. Sara Boucher and Mary Kromer claimed the apples. 

Third Period

Liliane Perreault pounced on an empty netter at 18:28. 

Highlights

McKay and Pedersen were +2 on the night. 

Ena Nystrøm earned her second straight shutout, the fourth of the season. 

Aubrey Cole blocked three shots.

Playoff Picture

The Lakers hold second place with 18 points in the CHA and have a conference record of 8-3-2. With tonight's win the Lakers have claimed home ice advantage for the first round of playoffs.

The top four teams in the CHA will head into the playoffs. The Semi-finals will be best-of-three with the top seeds hosting. 

The 2023 CHA Championship will be held on either March 3 or 4, 2023 with it being a single game.
