Lakers Sweep the Orange in New York

Syracuse, N.Y. - Women's Hockey had their third matchup of the season against Syracuse tonight, Feb. 10, 2023. 

The Lakers swept, winning game two 4-2.

How it Happened

First Period

Megan McKay sniped the puck into the net at 02:15 to score the first of the game. To assist her were Jersey Phillips and Riley Johnson.

Just over a minute later at 3:18, Liliane Perreault scored her second goal of the series. Sara Boucher and Mary Kromer tallied the apples 

Boucher struck again, this time a short-handed goal, at 15:20. Perreault also picked up point number two on the assist.

Second Period

Syracuse was able to capitalize on a powerplay goal at 15:28.

Third Period

The Orange saw the back of the net again at 18:40 to trail by one.

Perreault secured the game at 19:08 with an empty netter. Alexandria Weiss and Chantal Ste-Croix earned points with their assists.

Highlights

Perreault scored three points, a short-hander, and an empty-netter.

Makayla Javier was +3 on the rink.

Ena Nystrøm had a .938 save percentage stopping 30 shots.

Playoff Picture

The Lakers hold second place in the CHA with 20 points. They have also secured a home rink advantage for the semi-finals.

The semi-final games are set for Feb. 25 and 26, 2023. Feb. 27, 2023, is reserved if a third game is needed. 

The 2023 CHA Championship will be held on either March 3 or 4, 2023 with it being a single game. 

Next Game

The team will come back to Erie to face the Lindenwood Lions in the last matchup in the regular season. Game times are Feb. 17, at 6:00 p.m., and Feb. 18 at 2:00 p.m.
