Lakers Fall in Finale, Split Series with Falcons

Bowling Green, Oh. — The Falcons entered the night looking for redemption after the Lakers captured game one in a huge comeback. Mercyhurst and Bowling Green matched up for a physical game, ultimately seeing the team in green fall 4-2.

How It Happened
The game was aggressive from start, quite literally with Mercyhurst picking up a penalty 7 seconds in the match after a slashing call on a broken stick. This would spell out a penalty heavy game to come from both ends of the ice. The Lakers took another about 30 seconds later, giving the Falcons a 5-3 advantage within the first minute. The Mercyhurst defense stood tall and were able to impressively kill both power plays from Bowling Green. Laker's offense started firing at full strength, berating the goal with two power plays of their own. The Falcons were the ones to capitalize three minutes before the period came to a close, Ryan O'Hara netted his second of the weekend at even strength.

A goal advantage seemed to energize Bowling Green as they were able to get off an abundance of shots. Owen Say made his presence felt yet again, facing 12 shots and making 11 saves in the period alone. Ryan O'Hara was the man to strike again nine minutes into the period, increasing his team's lead to 2-0 on his now fifth goal of the season.

It was do or die for Mercyhurst going into the third period and the Lakers responded. Garrett Dahm got them off the mark capitalizing on a power play after Bowling Green picked up their 4th penalty of the game five minutes into the third. The Falcons got any doubt signaling a repeat of last night out of their heads quickly, striking back twice in three minutes as Owen Ozar (his first on the season) and Kersten Spencer got them a 4-1 lead. This Mercyhurst team that's shown they don't know how to quit, time and time again, pushed until the very end with Marko Reifenberger supplied through Boris Skalos and Jake Beaune pulling them closer with two minutes left. The Lakers pulled the goalie in a full-out effort that saw a chippy end with a penalty coming from both sides. A 4-2 line stood meaning defeat for the Lakers as they head back home with a split on the series,
