Lakers Set Sights on Seton Hill

Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst football comes into week 10 2-7 to this point, falling to Cal 51-19 in their last matchup. They'll look to turn things around against the Griffins on their own turf this Saturday, November 4th, when the two meet inside Saxon Stadium.

Where They Stand

Mercyhurst's 1-5 record in PSAC play and 2-7 overall record puts them at the bottom of the PSAC West, tied alongside Clarion and Edinboro. Slippery Rock remains undefeated as they are now 9-0 overall while boasting a 6-0 record to sit atop the conference, following by both Cal (Pa.) and Gannon who are 5-1 in the conference.

Laker Leaders

Adam Urena leads the way through the air with 2,189 yards and 21 touchdowns while completing 193 of his 318 passes (60.7%). His favorite target to this point in the season has been Joe Kerbacher who leads the team in catches with 35 while having 498 yards to his line for most on the team and four TDs. On the gourd, Jaylen Butera has been the to-go rusher with 590 yards to this point in the season to go along with six scores. Defensively, Tyler Buterbaugh leads the team in total tackled with 65 while Camden White leads the Lakers in tackles for a loss (6.0) and sacks (2.5)

Buterbaugh's Big Day

Tyler Buterbaugh put on a clinic against the Vulcans in the team's last game with the junior linebacker setting a new career-high in tackles with 16. The native of Saxonburg had nine solo tackles and seven assisted while one of them came behind the line of scrimmage for a loss of seven yards. He has had his best season to date at Mercyhurst, compiling 65 total tackles with 3.5 coming for a loss to go along with two sacks.

Scouting the Griffins

Seton Hill is 4-5 to this point in the season, going 3-3 in conference play. They've won each of their last two games thanks in large part to their offensive effort, scoring 73 points over those two games. The team's rushing attack has been led by Ky'Ron Craggette who has 742 rushing yards and eight scores to this point in the season, both good enough for top five in the PSAC. Through the air, Mark Balis Jr. has been the top target with 41 catches for 822 yards and five TDs, giving the Griffins a dynamic duo on offense.

Next Game

After their game with Seton Hill, the Lakers open up postseason play. The team still awaits their opponent, but are set to compete on Saturday, November 11th in the opening round of the PSAC Championships.
