Oxford, Oh — Mercyhurst gets back on the road coming off of a win, heading to Miami University of Ohio, kicking off a home and home series. Game one at Maimi will take place on Friday, then the two teams will get a rest day before hitting the ice for game two in Erie on Sunday.
Matchup History
It's only the third ever meeting of the two teams and the first in over a season. The RedHawks have the slight overall advantage 2-1, but last time out the Lakers were able to capture a win in overtime. The victory came in Mercyhurst's first visit to the competitors home with the Lakers grabbing the OT winner just over a minute into the period. Miami's previous wins came at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Recap
The Lakers split a series at home against a tough Air Force team this past weekend. Mercyhurst fell to the Falcons in the first match 5-2, but bounced back and flipped the script, winning 5-1 the following night. A pair of firsts highlighted the weekend. Senior Kyler Head got his first two goals of the season over the series after starting the season injured. Ryan Coughlin also picked up two goals, both coming on Sunday counting for the first two of his career as well. Owen Say was sturdy as ever with 33 saves on Sunday and 36 over the entire weekend.

A Look at the RedHawks
Chris Bergeron is the man in charge for Miami, leading the team for his 5th season as head coach. The RedHawks were active in the transfer market, with 6 of their 9 new roster additions came from the transfer portal. Senior Ryan Sullivan is one their highlight pick ups, bringing experience from UMass, where he won a title and consecutive Hockey East Championships. Albin Nelsson, who spent the last two season at Laker conference rival Niagara, produced 45 points over 72 games for them.
