Lakers Travel to Bowling Green for Weekend Series

Bowling Green, OH — The next venue on the schedule for the Lakers is a visit to Slater Family Ice Arena, where they'll take on hosts Bowling Green State University. Mercyhurst is set for a two game weekend against the Falcons with game one on Friday, November 3rd and game two the next day on Saturday, November 4th.

Matchup History
This will be the sixth time the teams have ever competed against each other, being the first time since December of 2020. It was a home & home series last time out, with each squad picking up a win at the opponents arena. Mercyhurst won game one in Ohio 2-1 before falling at home 3-1 the following day. All time against Bowling Green, the Lakers are 1-5 since the 2000 season, when they first met.

Recap
The Lakers had a massive roadtrip their last time out, making the trip to Notre Dame for a two game set. The series against the Fighting Irish was their first two game set of the season. Game one was a thrilling overtime battle that saw Mercyhurst grab a 3-1 lead in the second period, but the Fighting Irish dug even deeper and were able to pull the game back and send it to OT at 3-3, sealing their 4-3 victory three minutes into OT. Owen Say made a career and AHA season high 50 saves to keep Mercyhurst in the game, while Philip Waugh score his team-leading 3rd goal. The following day spelled another loss for the Lakers this time 0-5, the first time they've been shutout all season.

Philip Waugh leads the team in points on the season so far with five (3G, 2A). Jake Beaune is the team leader in blocks with 15. Owen Say leads the team in saves with 165 and a .922 save percentage.

A Look at the Bowling Green
Ty Eigner leads the Falcons for his fifth season as the program's head coach, after previously serving nine years as their assistant coach. 12 new players were added to their roster entering this season, comprised of eight freshman and four transfers. Former Princeton captain, Spencer Kersten and #150 overall pick in the 2019 NHL draft, Josh Nodler are among the transfers. Kersten, Ryan O'Hara, and Dalton Norris all are tied for their team lead in goals with two a piece. O'Hara, Brody Waters, and Michael Bevilacqua all have two assists on the season. Ryan O'Hara's four points lead the team. Goalie Christian Stoever has a team leading .947 save percentage, while rookie Cole Moore has the most saves with 98 after three games a piece.
