Erie, Pa. - United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) released their women's ice hockey coaches' poll for week 3.
The Lakers received votes in the poll this week and have received votes in two of the last three USCHO polls. Also in the poll is fellow CHA member Penn State, who comes in at 13 in the latest poll. Wisconsin tops the women's poll once again, receiving all 20 first place votes.
The Lakers are coming off a weekend where they went 1-1 against St. Cloud, who is ranked 14 in the poll. A win in Friday's game saw Marielle Parks net both Laker goals in the 2-0 win. Sydney Pedersen and Megan McKay assisted on the first goal, and Vanessa Upson and Emmi Mourujarvi assisted on the second goal. Ena Nystrom finished the win with 26 saves. The Lakers fell short 1-0 in the second game against St. Cloud. Ena Nystrom finished the game with 36 saves.
The Lakers will travel to #3 Colgate for a weekend series starting. Puck drop for Friday's game is set for 6 PM.
