Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team host Slippery Rock for a primetime game at Saxon Stadium. A strong second half led the Lakers to a 3-1 win over Slippery Rock.
How it Happened
Both sides traded free kicks and throw ins for the majority of the first half. With about nine minutes to play in the first half, the Lakers went up 1-0. Dylan Sumner continues his hot streak by scoring yet again. Sumner went bottom right and beat the goaltender after Frank Lovett set him up. The Lakers took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The second half got started fast as Slippery Rock was eager to tie the score and they did. Just three minutes into the half they tied it up at one. A lot of time had ticked off the clock, and the score was still 1-1. That changed as no one other than Dylan Sumner broke the tie. Sumner scored goal number nine of the season to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead. Philipp Strube added an assist on the goal. With six minutes left in the game, Cade Wurstner added the game sealer from Riley Kutschbach. For Wurstner it was his career goal, and for Kutschbach it was his first career assist.
