The Mercyhurst Cross Country Teams traveled to Pittsburgh, PA this weekend to participate in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. With it being the last race until the PSAC Championships on October 21st, both the Men's and Women's teams put together solid performances.
How it Happened:
Out of fourteen competing teams, the Mercyhurst Men's squad finished in sixth place. Alec Bidwell led the Mercyhurst runners with a time of 25:34.4. The time was good enough for fourth overall. Daniel Derby put together a solid run as well, posting a time of 28:08.7, placing 33rd overall. Ethan Chadbourne also placed in the top 40 with a time of 28:31.7.
The Women's team also performed well, placing fifth overall as a team. Maddy Mariani led all Laker runners with a time of 20:36.7. Mariani's final time was good enough for 14th overall. Of the 77 competing runners, Eleanor Chuzie, Molly McIntyre, and Mikaela LeBaron placed 20th, 22nd, and 23rd respectively. Corinne Sheedy placed in the top half of the race as well, at number 32, posting a time of 21:35.6.
Highlights:
After finishing 2nd in the Race in the Park, along with breaking a Mercyhurst school record in the 8k, Alec Bidwell continued his historic year by posting a time of 25:34.4 and placing within the top five for the second time this season.
Maddy Mariani placed in the top 15 for the second time this season, with the first coming in the Annual Race in the Park event. Mariani, along with Eleanor Chuzie, have been very consistent runners for the Lakers to date.

The teams will now start preparing for the PSAC Championships, which are scheduled for Saturday October 21st. Races are to be held in Bloomsburg, PA.
