Cross Country Women’s Team Places First; Men Finish Second at Race in the Park

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst cross country teams wrapped up their lone home meet of the season with the women's team claiming a first place finish out of three teams while the men's finished second out of three.

The women's team finished out front against 21 other runners from a pair of PSAC schools, Gannon and PennWest California. Leading the way for the second consecutive meet was Molly McIntyre with a time of 16:58.4 and a third place finish. Right behind her finishing in fourth was Kaila Szcygielski with a time of 17:03.1.

The next four lakers finished in succession starting with Rowan Milliron with a time of 17:25.4 and an eighth place finish following her was Bella Homorody with a time of 17:29.2, then Reagan Pettis with a time of 17:32.7 and rounding out the group was Caitlin Dugan with a time of 17:35.6 in 11th place. Closing out for the Lakers was Kathleen Tarlo who finished 19th with a time of 19:00.1.

The men's team competed against the same duo of schools against 29 other runners. NEC Rookie of the Week Thomas Gaydos once again led the way for the men with a time of 19:01.9 and a second place finish. Xavier Mohamed finished next with a time of 20:01.0 claiming seventh place with Camden Pierce following shortly after clocking a time of 20:13.7 and finishing in 11th place. 

Rounding out the men's group is a 15th place finish from Sawyer Bonnett with a time of 20:26.1 followed by Daniel Derby with a time of 20:30.5. Alexander Rowe finished 29th with a time of 21:50.8.

Next, the Lakers travel to South Bend, Ind. on September 19 to compete in the Notre Dame National Catholic Invite starting at 3:30 PM.
