Late Surge Helps Women's Soccer Extend Win Streak

Clarion, PA- The Mercyhurst Women's Soccer team swept another week of play by beating Clarion 4-0 on Saturday night. The win extends the Laker win streak to 10, and improves their season record to 10-1. The 20th ranked team in the country will now enter the back end of their schedule and look to ride the momentum into the post season.

How it Happened:

With a little over ten minutes left in the first half, Anamari Bosnjak got the party started with a goal off a free kick. Bosnjak struck the ball beautifully and found the top right corner of the net. The Lakers took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

The offense picked up again with less than twenty minutes left in the match, as the Lakers seemed to flick a switch. Anna Clarke extended the Mercyhurst lead to two after bending in a corner. Five minutes later off a throw in, Karah Van Horn found Corinne Morgan who split two Clarion defenders to set up Madison Hoover who snuck a ball past the keeper to make it 3-0. Not three minutes after Hoover's tap in, Corinne Morgan cleaned up a corner by launching a missile past the Clarion goalie to extend the Laker lead to four. The late surge helped they Lakers win comfortably, 4-0.
