Millersville, Pa. - Mercyhurst Field Hockey finished out their week with a loss, 3-0, as they were unable to get the job done against Millersville Saturday morning. The Lakers were able to keep pace with their counterpart in the early going, but two goals for Millersville in the final period of play proved to give them the momentum and the game.
How it Happened
Millersville did not waste much time gaining the lead, scoring two minutes into the game as Codi Bollinger scored her fifth goal of the year to make it 1-0. The Marauders continued to stay on the attack thereafter, but were turned away as the Laker's defense held strong.
Millersville continued to control the game with them firing off eight shots in the second period. All of them, though, were met by Kayla Desormeau as Mercyhurst stayed within striking distance going into the halftime break down 1-0.
The Lakers were able to make the right adjustments in the third period with only one shot from Millersville in the frame. The Marauders made up for lost time, though, in the fourth with eight shots while two found the back of the cage to help them to a 3-0 win.
