Johnstown, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team traveled to UPJ looking to bounce back from a tie and a loss this past week. After going down 1-0 early in the game, the Lakers scored two unanswered goals to come away with a 2-1 win and improve to 12-2-1 on the season.
How it Happened
UPJ took an early 1-0 lead. Just six minutes into the game they found the back of the net. The Lakers kept putting pressure on the UPJ defense but ultimately couldn't get anything to go. Andreas Rossak put two shots on goal at the end of the first half but couldn't convert the attempts. UPJ held their 1-0 lead at the half.
Just a minute into the second half, the Lakers tied it up at one. Jonathan Chase got the Lakers on the board with a goal. Ignacio Gallego and Guilherme de Lima Cunha added assists. Chase came down and put another shot on goal, but this time the shot was saved. In the 60th minute, the Lakers took the lead as Dylan Sumner scored off a free kick. Guilherme de Lima Cunha had a chance to add to the Lakers lead, but his shot was blocked. The Lakers were able to hold the lead for the rest of the second half and came away with a 2-1 win.
