Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst was unable to get the win in their lone game of the week as they hosted East Stroudsburg Saturday morning, finishing on the wrong side of the scoreboard 3-0. The Lakers were able to play their counterpart even in early going, but two goals in the fourth period helped the Warriors pull away.
How it Happened
The Warriors came out firing with them having eight shots to their line in the opening period of play. While Mercyhurst lived dangerously, they stayed unscathed as goalkeeper Kayla Desormeau was able to reject six of East Stroudsburg's shots.Â
Unfortunately for the Lakers, they were unable to keep their counterparts off the scoreboard in the second. It took the Warriors some time to help them claim the lead as it was not until the 11th minute in the frame until they scored, but they eventually found the back of the cage to take a 1-0 lead into the half.
After a quiet third quarter, East Stroudsburg got back out there and managed to score twice in the fourth to help them claim the multi-goal win. The pair of Warrior goals came within a minute of one another in the 53rd and 54th minutes as they were able to quell any hope of a come-from-behind win by the Lakers.
Highlights
Kayla Desormeau was once again great in goal for the Lakers as she collected 18 saves on the day while allowing just three goals. That set a new season-high for the Waterloo, Ont. native, giving her an eighth game with double-digit saves and 135 on the year overall.
