Erie, PA - The Lakers hosted Indiana University of Pennsylvania, on a day in which their senior class was honored and celebrated before the game. The team would continue their dominance and honor the seniors with a big win as well, taking down IUP by a score of 4-0. Mercyhurst's win streak moves to twelve and their record improves to 12-1 overall on the year.
How it Happened:
The Crimson Hawks would put out a good effort in the first half, but the, now, inevitable Lakers would finally strike through their leading goalscorer, Karah Van Horn, thirty-six minutes in. Corinne Morgan's scrappy play got it to Van Horn on a second attempted cross, squaring it right infront of goal for Sarah to slot home, giving the IUP keeper no shot to make it 1-0.
Mercyhurst would end up doubling their lead quickly just over four minutes later. This time Camille Bultel slotted one into the back of the net with Van Horn getting an assist this time around. The beautiful two-touch passing down the gut of the Crimson Hawks defense saw the Lakers lead jump to 2-0 with two and a half left to play.
The Lakers would head into the half up 2-0 on IUP.
It took Mercyhurst less than ten minutes into the second half to further their distance in the game, going up 3-0. It was a case of deja vu for IUP as it was another goal by Camille Bultel assisted by Karah Van Horn. This time Van Horn played one off to the outside edge of the box as Bultel magnificently curled one into the top of the net from distance.
The Lakers put the game to bed in the eightieth minute, with Paulina Harr laying one into the box for Anna Clark to head it home, bolstering the lead to 4-0.
The Lakers defense was as strong as ever, only allowing one shot the entire game as they shutout IUP for the second time this season.
