Women's Basketball Dominates Clarion

Clarion, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Basketball dominates Clarion in the Wednesday evening matchup. After a scoring explosion in the first half the Lakers defeat the Golden Eagles by the score of 78-43 as they move to 11-8 overall, and 7-6 conference mark.
 
First Quarter
The Lakers went into the game with a lot of energy, as Danielle Grim scored the first bucket of the game, 3-0.
 

 
Couple minutes later Lexi Wagner extended the lead with another long-distance shot, 13-2.
 

 
 
Second Quarter
Mercyhurst squad didn't slow down in the second, as they kept pushing the ball in transition and making it rain for three. Julia Buchman knocked down three three-pointers in a row, extending the lead to 27-7.
 

 
Third Quarter
The Golden Eagles came out of the locker room, determined to cut down the Lakers' lead. However, Mercyhurst kept making it rain and showcased a well-organized team brand of basketball, as Lexi Wagner knocked down another three-pointer, 50-27.
 

 
 
Fourth Quarter
The Lakers held the lead for the rest of the game, as 14 players got some playing time against Clarion. Mercyhurst defeated their opponents by a score of 78-43.
 
Game Highlights
Lexi Wagner led the charge for the squad with 16 points and three rebounds, three assists and the same number of steals. She was followed by Julia Buchman with 12 and Bailey Kuhns, scorer of 10. Mercyhurst caught fire early as they knocked down eight three-pointers in the first half alone.
 
Playoff Picture
The Lakers are now 11-8 on the season and 7-6 in conference play, as they are currently tied for the sixth spot in the standings, with Seton Hill. PSAC play is extremely competitive this season, as only two teams on the western side have a losing record.
 
Next Game
The Lakers come back home on Saturday, January 28th to take on Seton Hill at 1:00 p.m.
