ERIE, Pa. - The Lakers faced the Nittany Lions of Penn State University today, Jan. 22, 2023.

How it Happened
First Period
Vanessa Upson netted the first puck of the game on a power play. This was her 14th goal of the season. Thea Johansson and Mary Sweetapple were on the assist at 7:27 in the first.
Ena Nystrøm made a huge save against a sole Nittany Lion.
Penn State evened up the game on a power play at 16:01.
Second Period
The Nittany Lions earned another goal at 1:22 on another powerplay.
Nystrøm faced 15 shots on net.
Third Period
Penn State scored once again at 8:50 to make the game 1-3.
Johansson answered back, finding an opening at 13:33 to make the deficit one goal. Alternate Captains, Upson and Sara Boucher, were on the assists.
The Nittany Lions secured the win scoring two more goals, one an empty netter, at 18:40 and the other at 19:17.

Playoff Picture
Mercyhurst still stays at second in the CHA with 10 points. A win tomorrow will keep them three points behind the Nittany Lions, who now have 16.
The top four teams in the CHA will head into the playoffs. The Semi finals will be best-of-three with the top seeds hosting.
The 2023 CHA Championship will be held on either March 3 or 4, 2023, with it being a single game.
