Erie, Pa. - After grabbing their fourth consecutive win last night over Gannon, Mercyhurst Men's Basketball looks to keep things rolling along in the new week. The Lakers play a trio of games as they travel to take on UPJ and Clarion before returning home for Seton Hill.
1. Team StatsÂ
So far this season, Mercyhurst has scored 1,165 points total with their points per game at 77.7, good enough for fifth in the PSAC. Three-point shooting has been big for the Lakers as they have shot 40.0% from deep for second in the conference while their 150 makes from deep is good enough for fifth in the PSAC.
2. Scouting UPJÂ
The Lakers face the UPJ Mountain Cats this Monday, January 23rd, at 7:30 p.m. at UPJ. The last time Mercyhurst played the Mountain Cats was in March 2022 when the Lakers scored 83 points to UPJ's 77, helping Head Coach Gary Manchel and company collect their sixth straight win over their counterparts. In the PSAC West standings, UPJ is third with a conference record of 8-3, making this an important game for the Lakers to keep their place at second.Â
3. Scouting ClarionÂ
Mercyhurst takes on the Clarion Golden Eagles Wednesday, January 25th, at 7:30 p.m. at Clarion. Mercyhurst and Clarion last played in February 2022 with the Lakers grabbing their 12th win in a row against the Golden Eagles in a 71-61 win. It was the sixth straight game that coach Manchel's crew had won by double-digits as Mercyhurst has dominated the opposition of late.
4. Scouting Seton HillÂ
Mercyhurst returns home to play Seton Hill (11-6, 6-5) on Saturday, January 28th, at 3:00 p.m. The Lakers also hold a 12-game win streak over the Griffins as Mercyhurst has yet to lose to their counterpart. The last two games in Erie have gone the way the Lakers have wanted as they won each by an average of 19.5 points.
5. PSAC Standings
Mercyhurst is currently in second in the PSAC West as they sit 13-2 overall and 9-2 in the PSAC with only IUP at 11-0 in conference above them. Shippensburg sits atop the East at 9-2 while East Stroudsburg is 8-3 after a pair of losses to be tied with UPJ in the West.
