Lakers Force Overtime Against AIC

ERIE, Pa. - The Lakers faced the Yellow Jackets tonight, Jan. 21, 2023, in the Mercyhurst Ice Center. 

The Lakers played hard up until the last second where they fell 1-2 due to a penalty shot. 
 

How it Happened

First Period

No goals were scored in the first period, but the Lakers outshot the Yellow Jackets 13-9. 

Second Period

The Yellow Jackets capitalized on the first goal of the game at 5:52. It happened to be on a power play.

Eric Esposito tipped in the powerplay goal at 16:43 to tie the game up, 1-1. Owen Norton and Carson Briere picked up the apples. This also happened to be his second tip-in-power play goal of the series.

Third Period

No goals were scored in the third, which forced overtime. Tyler Harmon faced eight shots on the net. 

Overtime

Overtime remained scoreless until the very last second when there was a penalty call on the Lakers. AIC took the penalty shot and scored the game-winning goal.

Highlights

Tyler Harmon had a .941 save percentage.

Brendon Michaelian blocked five shots. 

Steven Agriogianis won 12 faceoffs.
