Men's Hockey has a Noteworthy Night

Paul ERIE, Pa. - Men's Hockey faced the Bentley University Falcons this evening, Friday, Jan. 27, 2023.

The team dominated, earning three AHA points and the win, 4-3.

How it Happened

First Period

The Falcons capitalized on the first goal of the game at 7:13. 

Kyler Head had other plans and swiftly dumped the puck in at 11:58. Eric Esposito earned his eighth assist of the season while Steven Agriogianis earned his 12th. The game was now tied, 1-1.

Almost seconds later, Tommy Bannister netted his first goal of his collegiate career at 12:40. Jonathan Bendorf grabbed the apple.

Second Period

Mid-way through the period, the Falcons netted a goal, but was quickly reversed due to interference. The Lakers still had the lead, 2-1.

Bannister bounced the puck off the boards and allowed Bendorf to score the Lakers' third goal of the night. Time on the clock was 8:06.

Bentley put two more on the board at 14:11 and 17:11, the score was now 3-3.

A tripping call with 12 seconds remaining in the period allowed Paul Maust to score a short-handed penalty shot and bring the score to 4-3.

Third Period

Tyler Harmon made a Sports Center-worthy save with 00:04 seconds left on the clock. The Lakers had four players against Bentley's six.

Highlights

Paul Maust skated in his 100th tilt as a Laker and registered the game-winner.

Tyler Harmon faced 39 shots on net. 

Tommy Bannister scored his first career goal.
