Women's Basketball Secures Win Against Cal (Pa.)

California, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Basketball records another huge win on the road as they defeat Cal (Pa.) by a score of 61-51. The Lakers move up to 10-6 on the year and 6-4 in conference play as they grab their sixth win on the road.

How It Happened

Mercyhurst started the game well as they capitalized on the opponent's mistakes and went on an early run. Grace Centrulla scored down low, after a nice pass from Jayde Boyd, extending the lead to seven points, 17-10.

The Lakers slowed down a little in the second, as the Vulcans went on the run of their own. Despite Centrulla continuing to dominate, as she scored a nice jumper with seven minutes on the clock, for her 15th point of the half. Eventually, the Lakers went into the break leading by one point, 28-27.

Jayde Boyd opened the second half well, as she penetrated inside and scored a layup, 30-27. Paige Woodford drained a three-pointer from the corner, extending the lead to four points, 41-37.

The Vulcans scored at the end of the quarter, and the Lakers were once again in just a one-point lead. That's when the Mercyhurst squad went on the run, as Boyd scored a layup, Centrulla knocked down a three, and Ava Waid went inside for an acrobatic layup, 48-40.

Cal (Pa.) tried to answer but the Lakers played well defensively, and held the lead to the end, winning by a score of 61-51.
