Erie, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Basketball falls to Gannon in their Saturday night , matchup at home. Despite great efforts, the Lakers lose to the Lady Knights by a score of 68-41.

How It Happened
The beginning of the game was very chaotic, as both teams made plenty of mistakes and possessions often changed.
Grace Centrulla scored a nice jumper early to put up the Lakers in 2-0 lead to begin the game.

Despite the early lead, Gannon went on a run and finished the first quarter winning by a score of 17-6. The Lakers answered in the second, as
Ava Waid went inside and finished with an acrobatic layup. Mercyhurst finished the first half with a nice three-pointer by
Julia Buchman, but despite that Gannon, went into the break with a 17-point lead, 35-18.

The Lady Knights didn't slow down in the second, as they went on a 10-0 run to start the third quarter, extending their lead to 28 points.
Danielle Grim scored two nice back-to-back buckets, as she showcased her lethal jumpcshot, but that wasn't enough to cut down the lead.

The Lakers tried to work as a team to generate offense, but despite their efforts Gannon won the game, and solidified their first spot in PSAC West.

By The Numbers
The Lakers had a hard time knocking down shots, and they couldn't capitalize on the opponents' turnovers.
Jayde Boyd recorded nine points and added season-high ten rebounds. Gannon out rebounded Mercyhurst 32-21, and had 16 second chance points and 46 points in the paint. They also showcased their depth as they scored 31 bench points.
