Men's Soccer Stays Undefeated

Erie, Pa. - The eighth-ranked Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team continues to pile up the wins, moving their streak to six with a decisive victory over Slippery Rock by a score of 3-0.

How It Happened

The first couple minutes saw a lot of back-and-forth play from both teams. The Lakers worked hard to create good scoring situations for themselves and their effort paid off in 14th minute of the match. Martin Grzywa danced between the defenders and made a phenomenal pass up the pitch to Dylan Sumner who lobbed the ball over the Slippery Rock's goalkeeper to make it a 1-0 game.

Mercyhurst's squad came out of the locker room with fresh energy and a sense of urgency as they kept applying pressure on the Slippery Rock defense. Their aggressiveness paid off in the 73rd minute as Sumner struck again with his second goal of the night.

The Lakers were not done there as Nic Münch got in on the scoring action late. He and Guillerhme de Lima Cunha connected in the box with Münch finishing off the scoring chance from the native of Brazil to help move Mercyhurst further out in front 3-0 with seconds left on the clock.

By the Numbers

The Lakers took 18 shots, with ten of them being on target, whereas their counterpart only took three shots while none of them were on the goal. Mercyhurst also drew ten corner kicks with many of them turning into scoring opportunities. Jonathan Gomes finished the game with another clean sheet, giving him his eighth shutout for the season.

What's Next
