ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Women's Lacrosse team will begin their week with back-to-back games against the Fighting Scots of Edinboro. The Lakers will first host Edinboro tomorrow at Saxon Stadium for a game that will act as the makeup game from the postponed match earlier in the season.
Laker Overview
The Lakers are coming off a week in which they went 1-1 against nationally ranked opponents. They first knocked off No.16 Roberts Wesleyan on Tuesday by a 14-9 score,
Maggie Newton led the Laker attack with eight points on five goals and three assists while
Kaitlyn Lippert made 12 saves in net.
The Lakers took on conference foe No.22 Seton Hill on Saturday, the Lakers made a late comeback only to see the Griffins score on a free position chance with 28 seconds remaining to win 9-8.
The Lakers now sit at 8-4 overall and 4-3 inside the PSAC. They are currently clinging on to the third and final playoff seed from the West with five games remaining in the season. Their matchup with Lock Haven this Saturday will be a big one as the Bald Eagles are in the fourth place spot currently.
Scouting Edinboro
Edinboro Women's Lacrosse has a record of 1-10 this season while losing all seven conference games that they have played in this season. They have been outscored by opponents this season 187-22. Their lone win of the year came against Felician by a 6-3 score.
