Erie, PA - The Mercyhurst Lakers' women's lacrosse team has two PSAC matchups at home this week. Wednesday at 5:00 p.m, they will face off against Edinboro, and Saturday at 1:00 p.m., they will take on the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).
Last Week's Results
Last Tuesday, the Lakers fell 13-3 to the Seton Hill Griffins. The Griffins came out strong with six goals in the first quarter. The Lakers answered with two quick goals by Julia Ruscio and Meghan Nasman in the second quarter but it wasn't enough to get some momentum for the Lakers.
Saturday, the team traveled to Lock Haven, PA and came out with a 16-9 victory against the Bald Eagles. Victoria Gottorff led the Lakers in goals with five total and three in the first quarter alone. Goalie Kaitlyn Lippert had 10 saves. The Lakers had 33 shots on goal and caused five turnovers.
Scouting Edinboro
The Fighting Scotts have had a tough start to their season being 1-6 overall and 0-3 in conference. The have lost by at least 20 points in all three of their PSAC matchups. Kandyce Graham leads the team in goals with six and Traci Culver has tallied four this season.
Scouting IUP
The Crimson Hawks are currently undefeated in PSAC play and 6-2 overall with two of the games going into overtime. They have six players with double digit goals and their two leading scorers both have 16. Their goalkeeper has a .408 save percentage with 58 saves.
Against the Fighting Scotts
The Lakers are undefeated against the Scotts since 2009. Their last matchup was April 24, 2019 and The Lakers won 15-4.
Against the Crimson Hawks
Mercyhurst has had a dominance over the Hawks since 2006 with a record of 10-4. The longest winning streak was three games long from 2014 to 2015. Their last matchup was a 16-4 victory in May 2021.

The Lakers have two away PSAC games next week. They will travel down the road to Gannon University on Tuesday and then head to Slippery Rock on Saturday.
