Erie, PA - The Mercyhurst Lakers women's lacrosse team will continue conference play with two PSAC match-ups scheduled for this week. They are home at Saxon Stadium at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday against the Seton Hill Griffins. On Saturday, they will be traveling to Lock Haven, PA, to battle the Bald Eagles at 1:00 p.m.
Last Week's Results
The Lakers had their first conference match-up of the season against Slippery Rock last week, and they came out on top with a score of 13-10. They came out quick with four goals in the first quarter. The game was steady with scoring, and the Rock gathered four more goals in the last quarter of play but still came up short. Goalie Kaitlyn Lippert had 15 saves, and the Laker defense caused 11 turnovers. Redshirt senior, Julia Ruscio, led the team in scoring with five goals and one assist. Ruscio was named the PSAC West Player of the Week for her performance.
Scouting Seton Hill
The Griffins are 4-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play. They went into overtime against Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and lost by only one goal. Next, they played Slippery Rock and lost 7-12. Their leading scorer, Skylar Orlowski, has 25 goals this season with 38 shots on goal.
Scouting Lock Haven
The Bald Eagles have had a good start to their season with a 4-2 record overall and 1-1 in conference play. Their first PSAC matchup was against Gannon, and they pulled out the win. Just like Seton Hill, they lost in overtime against IUP with a score of 12-13. Caitlin Morrow is their leading scorer with 20 goals, and they have four players with above .500 shot percentage.
Against the Griffins
The Lakers' last matchup was a victory against the Griffins on April 10, 2019. Since 2006, Mercyhurst has had an impressive 9-1 record against Seton Hill with a seven-game win streak.
Against the Bald Eagles
The Lakers' record against the Bald Eagles is 8-10 since 2006. Their last game against each other was April 24, 2021, and the Lakers won 11-7.
Up Next
The Lakers will be back home next week with two more PSAC contests scheduled. Thy will first host Edinboro on Wednesday, March 30th before welcoming IUP to campus that Saturday.
