Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Women's Basketball team will kick off their final week of play with a trip to Pitt-Johnstown Monday night at 5:30 p.m.

The Matchup

The Mountain Cats hold the advantage in the all-time series between these two teams with a 23-13 record against Mercyhurst. They won the first meeting this season between the two teams when they met in Erie on Jan. 31, 59-58.

The Hunt for 1,000

Redshirt senior Emily Shopene could become the second Laker to reach 1,000 career points this season after MiyKah McIntosh crossed the threshold earlier this season with the men. Shopene, an Erie native, currently sits at 987 points with three games left on the schedule. She is averaging 9.0 points per game.

Keep-Away

The Lakers have been one of the best teams in Division II this season in pulling down defensive rebounds. They lead the PSAC and are in the top 10 in the country with 30.5 defensive rebounds per game. They've certainly had plenty of opportunities under their opponents' rim, holding opposing teams to a 36.9 field-goal percentage. That mark is sixth in the conference.

Scouting the Mountain Cats

Pitt-Johnstown is looking to lock up the final spot in the PSAC Tournament, which they can do with a single win this week. They hold an 11-14 overall record (9-10 in conference play), but have not played since Feb. 14, when they lost 61-40 to California (Pa.). Ashley Norling leads four UPJ players in the double-digits with 11.5 points per game and has added 5.6 rebounds per game.
