Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst Men's Basketball is on the road this weekend, playing two PSAC East teams. They play West Chester University of Pennsylvania on Friday, December 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. The next day, the Lakers face Millersville University at 3 p.m.
1. Previous Matchup
The Lakers had an impressive comeback over the Daemen Wildcats in their first game of the season. At the beginning of the game, both teams were at a standstill. Going back and forth, neither team was able to get a clear advantage. In the middle of the second half, the Wildcats had a 15-4 run against the Lakers. The Lakers answered slowly but eventually brought the game to a close game again. The final points to win the game came from Michael Bradley with a buzzer-beater to give the Lakers a 62-61 win.
2. New Faces
This year the Lakers have brought in a few new faces to the team. They have brought in three guards in Dasan Doucet, Christian Gamble, from Silver Springs, Md., and Sean Fullerton. They have also brought in one forward, Luke Triggs who hails from Gainesville Va.
3. Scouting the Marauders
Millersville is currently ranked fifth in the PSAC East with an overall record of 2-3. The Lakers played the Marauders twice in March of 2022. They lost on March 5th by a score of 53-59 while bouncing back on March 12th with a score of 71-65 which led the Lakers to advance to the Atlantic Region Semifinals. Bradley was crucial in this game with 20 points while Jeff Planutis followed with 12 points, MiyKah McIntosh collected 11 points, and Nicholas Lang had nine points.
4. Scouting the Golden Rams
According to the PSAC East standings, West Chester is ranked third with an overall record of 4-1. The Lakers have not beaten the Golden Rams since the 2016-2017 season when Mercyhurst defeated West Chester 72-69. Their most reason matchup was in 2019 when the Lakers fell to the Golden Rams in a very close game with a score of 83-80.
5. Upcoming Matchup
The Lakers play D'Youville College Wednesday, December 7th. They play at home in Erie, Pa. in the Mercyhurst Athletic Center at 7 p.m. for the Laker's home opener of the 2022-23 season. You can get your season or single-game tickets now.
