Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst Cross Country now eyes their final scheduled event of the season as they are set to compete in the NCAA DII Atlantic Regional Championships Saturday in Mansfield, Pa. The two teams look to make some noise as they hope to qualify for the National Championships with a solid showing.

The last race for the men was the PSAC Championships where they finished 12th out of 16 teams. Alec Tidwell was once again the top runner for the Lakers as he came in 20th with a time of 25:58.6, earning all-conference honors for her efforts. He was followed by Landon Owens who was 36th with a time of 24:42.3 while Evan Haemmerie and Nathan Nelson rounded out the top-100 finishers for Mercyhurst. 

Alec Bidwell has been consistently the best racer for the Lakers this season with him being the first Laker to finish every race so far this season. He has finished in the top 15 in three different races with two top-three finishes and looks to keep things going after earning a spot on the All-PSAC list.

The women's last race was also the PSAC Championships where they came in 16th out of the 18 competing teams. Freshman Bella Homorody was the first Laker to finish with a time of 25:42.8 while Maria Marullo came in second for Mercyhurst as she finished at 25:56.2 to give the Lakers two top 100 finishers in the race.

Homorody once again proved to be very consistent for Mercyhurst in the PSAC Championships. Her first-place finish among her fellow Lakers marks the third time she has finished at the top runner for Mercyhurst in an event in 2022. The freshman made her presence felt on the team early on as she finished as the team's top runner in their second race of the season with a time of 21:06.9 at the National Catholic Invitational. She backed that up with another top team performance in the Live at the Lou Classic where she finished with a time of 20:57.5, her best of the season.
