Lakers Fall in Exhibition Against Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lakers traveled to Michigan to face the Bulldogs of Ferris State University in an exhibition game. The game was played at 1:00 p.m. on Nov. 12, 2022. The Bulldogs came out on top with a final score of 1-5. 

How it Happened

First Period

FSU had an early lead in the exhibition. They scored with 1:26 off of the clock. Just over a minute elapsed, and the Bulldogs sent another puck into the net at 17:30. The score was now 0-2. 4:42 was now off of the clock, and the Bulldogs scored once more, this widened the lead to 0-3.

6:33 elapsed, and a Bulldog was sent to the box for tripping. The Lakers were able to capitalize on three shots.

With 6:35 left in the first, the bulldogs carried the score to 0-4. 

Moments later, FSU encountered another penalty at 6:28. The call was slashing.

The Bulldogs were getting familiar with the penalty box as they gained a high sticking call with 18:19 off of the clock. The Laker power play would close out the first period.

Second Period

The Lakers entered the period on a power play thanks to Ferris State.

Three two minors and a major were called on the Bulldogs with 4:24 elapsed. Kyler Head was also sent to the box for roughing after the whistle.

The Lakers entered another power play and had another call for roughing after the whistle for both teams. The time of the penalties was 14:51.

They continued to be on a power play and were able to take multiple shots on goal.

The second period saw no goals, but the Lakers took nine shots on the net. 

Third Period

Ferris State pulled through and gained the fifth goal of the night with 5:09 off the clock.

Quickly after this goal, at 14:20, two Lakers and two Bulldogs had another roughing after the whistle call. Ferris State had another call moments later at 13:00 for interference. 

With 5:03 remaining in the exhibition, Tommy Bannister launched a shot into the net to earn the first goal of the game and his first goal of the season.
 

 

The exhibition game finished with a score of 1-5.

Mercyhurst took 27 shots on the net. 

Steven Agriogianis won 15 faceoffs.

Tommy Bannister scored his first goal of the season.
