Troy, N.Y.—The Mercyhurst Women's Hockey team fell at home to No. 10 Clarkson by a score of 3-1.
How it Happened
Just under seven minutes into the game Clarkson opened the scoring to make it 1-0. Just 11 seconds later, Clarkson doubled their lead to make it 2-0.
Mercyhurst answered at the 11:59 mark as Chantal Ste-Croix scored her second goal of the year. Sydney Pedersen passed the puck down to Thea Johansson who fed it across the ice the Ste-Croix and she made mistake to get the Lakers on the board.
After the first period the Lakers led in shots 10-9 but were down 2-1 on the scoreboard.
At the 3:13 mark of the second period, Clarkson extended their lead back to two as they made 3-1. That marked the end of the night for Ena Nystrøm who made seven saves in the outing. Jada Brenon came in for the rest of the game.
After 40 minutes of play shots were tied at 15 but the Lakers trailed 3-1.
In the third period neither team scored and the Lakers were outshot 10-8. Mercyhurst pulled Brenon for just about the final two minutes but could not convert with the empty net.
By the Numbers
With the game played tonight, Brenon has played in 100 career games split between the Lakers and Holy Cross, Brenon made 15 saves in relief. There was only one penalty in the game tonight and was against Clarkson with less than a minute remaining in the first period. Mercyhurst tallied three shots on goal on the powerplay.
