Box Score Erie, Pa. - The Lakers were tasked with another tough PSAC opponent in Kutztown Saturday night and while they did all they could to keep up, they were unsuccessful. Mercyhurst fought hard throughout and kept themselves within striking distance, but were not able to come away with the win, falling 2-1.
How it Happened
Kutztown got out to an early lead with a goal in the first period. The Golden Bears were able to fire the opening salvo of the game thanks to Sarah Gatehouse with Rachel Dusman grabbing the assist. The Kutztown pairing helped their team get on the board in the ninth minute of the first, staking themselves to a lead they would never relinquish.
The Golden Bears added on in the second stanza as they continued to be aggressive in their attack on offense. This time around, it was Olivia Blasone getting the goal for Kutztown as they were able to move out their lead before the halftime break as the Golden Bear's goal came just one minute into the second quarter.

Mercyhurst got a corner and they used it well, providing themselves with a scoring opportunity. Elizabeth Jackson did not waste that chance as she found the back of the cage for her second goal of the year to make it a 2-1 game with just under eight minutes to go in the third period.
The rest of the game show that things were quiet, but after the Lakers scored their first goal, they were hungry for more. The team made solid runs at the cage and pressured the Golden Bear defense well. But their efforts were not enough in helping them tie things up or take a lead as Mercyhurst finished behind by a final of 2-1.
