Greensburg, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Soccer are unable to make it three straight wins as they fall on the road to open up the new week. The Lakers traveled to take on Seton Hill Wednesday afternoon with the Griffins getting the better of the matchup by a final 2-0.

How It Happened

The beginning of the match saw a lot of back-and-forth action as both teams tried to rush to each other's half. In 13th minute of the game Fern Lazenby tried her luck, but her shot missed to the left.

In 25th minute of the game the Griffins capitalized on a corner kick, as Mikayla Moyer put the ball in the Lakers' goal with a great shot to the corner of the net. The Lakers tried to answer in the first half as Lauren Casey beat her defenders, but her shot was saved by the Griffin's goalkeeper. Despite great efforts, Mercyhurst went into the half down one.

The Lakers came out the locker room full of energy and determined to capitalize on their scoring situations. However, the Griffins completely surprised them, as just a minute into the second half they crossed the ball inside and Corynna Rotolli flicked the ball into the Laker's goal.

Despite a two-goal deficit the Lakers didn't give up. In 50th minute of the match, Lazenby took another shot, but it bounced off the crossbar. A couple of minutes later, Taryn Baxter attempted a shot but it was saved to keep the Lakers scoreless.

The Lakers kept applying pressure and created multiple opportunities under Seton Hill's goal. Karah Van Horn beat her defenders in 73rd minute of the match but couldn't put it inside the net while ten minutes later a header by Amber Thomas was saved again by the Griffin's goalkeeper. Despite great efforts, Seton Hill held on to their lead, and defeated the Lakers by a score of 2-0.
