Erie, Pa – Fourth-ranked Mercyhurst men's soccer extends their winning streak as they defeat Cal (Pa.) by a score of 4-0.
How It Happened
The Lakers came out on the field determined to score and showcased a very aggressive brand of soccer from straight from the kick-off. In 15
th minute of the match
Jorge Tallada Torres beat his defenders and took a shot to the left, but it was saved.
A couple minutes later
Erik Cederberg was fouled, as he tried to dance between defenders right outside the penalty box.
Dylan Sumner capitalized on the opportunity, as he took a beautiful, curved shot to the left and beat the Vulcan's goalkeeper.
Ten minutes later Mercyhurst struck again as Cederberg received the ball from Sumner and send the ball into the back of the net, extending the lead to two. The Lakers didn't stop there as Sumner scored another free kick, so they went into the break with 3-0 on the scoreboard.
Second half was like the first one, as the Lakers kept applying pressure and would hold the ball for extended periods of time. In 61
st minute of the match Nic Munch beat his defender with a move to the right and crossed the ball inside. Sumner received it and scored his third goal of the match, for the first hat-trick in his career.
The Lakers had a few more scoring opportunities but couldn't capitalize, so the game ended with a score of 4-0.

The Lakers dominated the game on both sides of the pitch, taking 15 shots with 10 of them on goal. Cal (Pa.) took just four shots through the whole match and three of them on target.
