Erie, Pa—The Mercyhurst Volleyball team fell to Clarion on Friday night. The Golden Eagles sweep the season series over the Lakers with tonight's win.
How It Happened
The Lakers and the Golden Eagles started set one in a tight battle tying things at six early on; However, the Clarion offense came to life going up 18-13.
Kate Hennessy had two late kills, but the Lakers couldn't come back dropping set one 25-19.
Clarion took control of set two early on going up 8-2. A kill from
Kylie Schnars and
Alexa Mitchell contributed to the Lakers offense late in the set but wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit falling in set two 25-14.
Mercyhurst didn't go quietly in set three as a kill from Hennessy and an ace from
Zoe Gadomski tied things at eight for the Lakers. After giving up three points, Mercyhurst earned a couple back on a kill from
Erin Wall and Schnars. Mercyhurst's battle ended on a Clarion kill as they took the third and final set 25-18.
By the Number
Hennessy led the Lakers offensively with nine kills while
Maggie Thomas denied her opponent four times.
Alexa Mitchell led the team with 13 assists and nine digs.

Mercyhurst travels to Seton Hill tomorrow for the final regular season matchup between the Griffins and Lakers.
