Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Women's Hockey team fell for the second straight day against No. 6 Colgate by a score of 2-0.
How it Happened
The Lakers and Raiders played a back and forth game with neither team generating many great scoring opportunities. In the first period neither team solved each other's goalie. After the opening 20 minutes the Raiders outshot the Lakers 11-6.
The second period was very similar to the first period but the Raiders had some high quality scoring chances but the Lakers stood tall. Mercyhurst killed off all three Colgate power plays in the frame. Ena Nystrøm made 18 saves in the period.
In the third Colgate opened the scoring as they took advantage on the power play. They scored on a cross-crease pass that Nystrøm got a pad on but the puck had already crossed the line to open the scoring.
The Lakers attempted a comeback but fell short as Colgate scored their second goal of the game on an empty net with just five second remaining. Prior to the at the Lakers had a five minute power play and could not convert.

Colgate took 38 total shots, Nystrøm made 36 saves. It is the seventh time in her Mercyhurst career that she had to make 30+ saves in back-to-back game. Mercyhurst blocked a season high 17 shots in the game. Vanessa Upson led the Lakers in shots as she took five, Sara Boucher was second on the team with three. Mercyhurst did not convert on any of their three shots while Colgate scored once on five chances.
